১। Speech & Language Therapy (SLT) কী?
• স্পিচ অ্যান্ড ল্যাঙ্গুয়েজ থেরাপি হলো একটি চিকিৎসা বিজ্ঞান ও পুনর্বাসনমূলক পেশা। এই কোর্সে একজন শিক্ষার্থী মানুষের যোগাযোগ সমস্যা, কথা বলার জড়তা, তোতলামি, কন্ঠস্বরের সমস্যা এবং খাবার গিলতে সমস্যা (Dysphagia) নির্ণয় ও চিকিৎসার প্রশিক্ষণ পান ।
২। SLT কত বছরের কোর্স?
• ৪ বছর একাডেমিক এবং ১ বছর বাধ্যতামূলক ইন্টার্নশিপসহ মোট ৫ বছরের কোর্স ।

৩। কোর্সের লক্ষ্য ও উদ্দেশ্য (Objectives): কোর্স শেষে একজন গ্র্যাজুয়েট যা করতে পারবেন:
• কথা বলা ও যোগাযোগের সমস্যা নির্ণয় (Assess communication disorders).
• বাচ্চাদের দেরিতে কথা বলা বা অটিজম আক্রান্ত শিশুদের ভাষার উন্নয়ন।
• স্ট্রোক পরবর্তী রোগীদের কথা বলা ও খাবার গেলার সমস্যার চিকিৎসা।

৪। ভর্তির যোগ্যতা (Admission Eligibility)
(রাজশাহী মেডিকেল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের নিয়ম অনুযায়ী)
• শিক্ষাগত যোগ্যতা: এসএসসি এবং এইচএসসি (বিজ্ঞান বিভাগ) উভয় পরীক্ষায় জীববিজ্ঞানসহ (Biology) পাস করতে হবে।

Advance Placement:
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
By the end of this module, students will be able to:
• Advance clinical placement will be assessed using the same Clinical Placement Evaluation Form. The elective module will expose the students to wider contexts of practice and more complex presentations. The students will be required to use clinical reasoning skills and will need the ability to transfer there advanced skills into a variety of situations dependent on need. The elective module offers the opportunity to build on existing knowledge and experience by broadening the client group and the context in which students work.
• Advance clinical placement offers a unique experience in terms of clinical skills, but in whichever area of practice the module is undertaken the student will be expected to demonstrate a high degree of independence, clinical competence and professionalism.

Subject Syllabus:
• The student will undertake this module as an elective placement. The placement will have objectives specific to the area of work in which the placement takes place.
• On successful completion of the module the student will:
• Be able to assess a variety of patients using information from the patient’s medical records, knowledge, and subjective, objective assessment findings in order to identify therapeutic objectives.
• Set short and long-term goals with the patient/carer and plan a realistic therapeutic programme. Re-assess the patient at suitable intervals and adjust the problem list, goals and management plan accordingly.
• Have the competence and skill to apply physiotherapeutic techniques safely, effectively and with sensitivity, based on a sound understanding of the criteria for selection or non- selection of relevant therapeutic techniques and with an ability to evaluate the effectiveness of their interventions and to vary the programme accordingly. Including the teaching of appropriate home care and/or preventative techniques to patients and/or their carers.
• Have good written communication skills; maintain a clear and accurate record of patient assessment, treatment and progress, with awareness of legal and ethical problems and the need for confidentiality.
• Have the ability to manage time and workload effectively.
• Have an ability to appraise their own performance and recognise their own limitations of knowledge and experience.
• Demonstrate a willingness to consider constructive criticism and to make the appropriate adjustments in practice.

AIMS of the Bachelor of Science in Speech & Language Therapy
At the completion of Bachelor of Science in Speech & Language Therapy as a health science discipline, the graduate will be able to demonstrate:
• Professionally competent and has the capacity to soundly analyse the patients, assess, diagnose, make the treatment plan and apply appropriate programme of treatment autonomously, and then execute that programme safely, effectively and with sensitively.
• Practice within the core areas of Audiology & Speech-Language Therapy demonstrating a sound knowledge base across the range of subject material that comprises the theoretical basis of the Audiology and Speech-Language Therapy discipline.
• Communicate effectively with patients, respecting their rights and confidentiality, delivering care based on informed consent and customised to individual need.
• Engage in appropriate data collection and recording, constantly evaluating treatment plans and their implementation to ensure their on-going relevance. Make use of appropriate outcome measures to evaluate a patient’s health status and gauge changes resulting from treatment.
